The Backland Trail includes 16 kms of prepared walking trails that provide breathtaking views of Placentia Bay, the woodland, wildlife and plants. On your walk among the woods and marshes, watch for wildlife such as eagles, osprey, moose, fox, ptarmigan and grouse. You will also find some excellent examples of plant life such as Bog Myrtle, Leatherleaf, Northern Rose, Northern Wild Raisin, and Creeping Snowberry.

The AMA added a wonderful tourism product with their recreational vehicle (RV) travel trailer (TT) park, the Argentia Sunset Park. Located on a beautiful grassy hill just pass the main entrance way, it is about two kilometres from the Marine Atlantic Ferry service. The park provides all of the necessary services for the modern RV user: water, sewer, and a 30-amp electrical service.
